I work in hospitality and the amount of brown-nosing social climbers here is astounding. I'm talking like these people would actively try to sabotage their friends if it meant getting a pat on the head from management. 

I understand liking your manager, boss  etc but kissing that much ass is so cringe. 

I'm so fortunate that I'm an introvert and for the most part , just ignore my co-workers.
